Remove Run.vbs

Run.vbs is a file that starts every time the computer is turned on. As you can see, this file has a .vbs extension which means that it’s a VBS script (VBS stands for Visual Basic Scripting). This file is not malicious on its own, however it tends to be linked to adware.

If you’ve been seeing errors linked to Run.vbs, announced in Windows Script Host tabs like the one seen below, it means that you probably have either a malfunctioning adware, or a parasite program was removed but without completely removing its scripts.

If you just remove the Run.vbs file, you might end up dealing with a black screen when you try to start Windows. In such cases follow these steps:

  • Press at the same time CTRL+ALT+DEL
  • Open the Task Manager
  • Click on the File menu, then choose New Task
  • Write explorer.exe and click on OK

After doing this you’ll be able to use the guide presented below to fix any bugs linked to Run.vbs.

In the future, if you wish to avoid adware, be careful with what you decide to execute on your computer, and stay away from browsing malicious websites you might find after clicking on tricky ads or posts on Facebook; don’t forget that some websites are able to exploit some plug-ins’ security fails.
