MapsGalaxy is a new adware by Mindspark. Being so, this program hides a toolbar that will modify in every web browser installed on your system some of the main settings in order to setup certain malicious search engines like ask or search.myway.com.
Even if MapsGalaxy has its own attractive official website, even showing off a Norton logo, we must accept that is all part of a deceiving advertising technique. Some of the malicious tasks can be found explained on this website, however its quite impossible to read them without getting a headache.
MapsGalaxy as all of the other adware created by Mindspark, is installed either by attaching it to a popular free software or hidden along fake cracks installers, fake update installers, etc… Therefore if a user finds its computer infected with MapsGalaxy, we can be sure that it wasn’t the user who installed it with full knowledge of what was happening.
It’s no way near easy to manually remove MapsGalaxy and many malicious people know this, so they take advantage of this to offer some allegedly removal tool that won’t actually achieve anything even when you will be asked for some kind of payment first. What’s even worse, when afterwards you’ll start looking for help to remove those tools you’ll be in even more trouble.
