Remove Skype virus

Skype is a widely used virus all around the world, which makes it the perfect target for all sorts of viruses. It could be for example a ransomware that infects your computer through Skype blocking all your personal data. This virus asks for a ransom to give you back your documents. Don’t fall into the trap, paying will do you no good! It could also be a Trojan or another less dangerous virus like an adware.

A lot of users that have been infected through Skype wonder why their antivirus has not blocked the infected file… simple answer: the users themselves are the ones that approved such installation.

Usually it all starts with a message coming from an unknown contact, although it could also come from one of your own contacts that has also been infected. You get a message like this:

”Hi, is this your new profile pic? https://goo.gl/[code]?img=[user name]”

Even if it comes from one of your contacts, you can be sure that he or she didn’t send it by choice. The link comes from Google (they use Google services to gain your trust), and they use your own user name, but that’s just a trick to get you to click the malicious link that will either make you download an exe file or will take you to a malicious website.

If you have been infected, use our guide to clean your computer ASAP! Don’t forget to notify your contact about the unwanted message you got from their account.
