Remove Storm Alert

Storm Alert is an adware, software specifically developed to spread ads once installed onto a computer. As a general rule, this type of program contains a useful part and a part that manages the posting of ads. For Storm Alert, the “useful” part is described as being a storm warning that can alert you by notifying you if there is a storm near your location.

Storm Alert uses an official site where it is possible to download the software. Nevertheless, this is not the most popular method of attaining the adware.

Storm Alert is installed with other downloaded programs from the internet, most notably:

  • Downloaded software from sites like softonic or download.com
  • Fake updates for programs (Java, Flash Player, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer)
  • Fake programs (from video players to codec, used for streaming)

So even if the program seems interesting, the “useful” part is only there to disguise the ads that Storm Alert will use to annoy you. So don’t be duped! If software is spread by fake updates, then it’s probably no good. This is why expert security companies like Malwarebytes detect this type of program as malware.
