Local Temperature is an adware that presents itself as a weather widget. Not exactly a new thing, since there has been weather gadgets for Windows Vista and Windows 7, and Windows 8 actually includes a pre-installed weather tool.
In Local Temperature’s official website we can see there’s a Pro version available for $10… This Pro version offers a tools without any ads because the free one is actually an adware.
With the goal of broadcasting as much ads as possible, this adware can be found in download platforms attached to free and popular software. Users usually pay little attention to what’s written in setup programs, thus they easily found themselves with unwanted programs like Local Temperature and all its publicity without really wanting to.
In the following screenshot we see Local Temperature being offered along with Google Chrome; of course this setup program is not offered by Google, it is offered instead in download platforms. By not customizing the setup process Local Temperature will be installed by default.
