Remove Holnia

Holnia is the name of a malware usually distributed attached to some other software install process. This distribution technique makes it possible for many adware to be installed in computers whose users would never had installed it by choice.

Holnia’s goals are, to broadcast as much ads as possible when you’re browsing the net, and to analyze your every move online.

These ads can be seen as pop-ups, banners, or green/blue underlined words turned into links directly among the content of every website you visit, all of them tagged as Ads by Holnia or Powered by Holnia.

Besides ruining your browsing experience, Holnia also takes the opportunity to save important data about the way you move online, saving keywords from your searches and every website you visit. It goes as far as analyzing your computer’s configuration according to them for “statistics” purposes only, or so they claim on Holnia’s official website. The truth is that they will save all this data into databases they can sell afterwards.

To avoid dealing with this kind of issue in the future, be aware of what you’re doing when you’re installing something new in your system; also make sure you know what hides behind the “recommended” mode on any install process; and remember to customize those installers so you can reject anything you don’t want before clicking on “Next”.

Finally, try to restrict your downloads to official websites and avoid download platforms like Softonic and 01net.
