Acengine is a name linked to a DLL file (acengine.dll) that’s usually related to some or several adware. We find it mostly attached to the potentially unwanted program called Fast Search.
An adware is a software that makes sure to show you all kinds of ads, specially in the form of pop-ups. A pop-up is a little window that opens up on their own accord, and in an unexpected fashion showing ads; this is not to be mistaken by legit publicity shown by websites.
Usually Acengine is then responsible for unexpected ads showing up whenever you’re browsing the internet. These ads can be seen in several different ways, sometimes pop-ups, green/blue links in the text of every website visited or fake results inserted in the best positions of every result page given by Google or Bing when you use those search engines.
